We've released a hotfix for Skype for iOS 4.0 which is now live in the App Store.

This version (4.0.1325) will fix the following issues:

• Users are signed-out and not able to sign-in after (DB_IO_ERROR)
• Users were not able to send SMS messages in some cases
• Users with Asian languages were not able to save mood message

We hope this fixes the sign in problem that some of our users encountered. Please report back here if the problem persists for you.

Of course you are also welcome to leave your general feedback on this update here

Hi Veruberu,
we are looking to find a solution for offering a download for older devices, but the Apple App Store is lacking this functionality right now and we can't offer it via a seperate channel.
I'll share any news here as soon as we found something or can I can give another update.

Dear community manager,

I, and a lot of other users too, want a way to be able to use skype on our iphones again. I guess that's not too much to ask. I have an iphone 3gs which is one and a half years old. I can't upgrade to ios5 and upgrade to ios4.3 is not possible anymore. There are many people with the same problem that i have. Skype was updated without warning me at any point that it will not be compatible with my ios Version, but it still downloaded, with the older (FUNCTIONING!!!)  version being deleted automatically and unrecoverable forever. That is really a little bit too much. I have been a paying customer for years and i'm disappointed by the way Skype is dealing with this problem.
