when Im making a video call what I am saying appears as text next to the screen.Then when I finish and go to written messages the whole conversation from the video call is there in the form of a written message but like a very bad translation! I just want to be able to connect to my daughters tablet by way of video.
1. Do I obtain a subscription for a phone number as her tablet is WiFi only?
2. Does this feature only work as a PC to PC or can I do the video call from PC to Android Skype App
3. I see you cannot do a video call to mobile phone from PC so does this also include tablets even though they have video camera's or again must I set up a phone number on that skype tablet.
I just want a straight answer. There are so many chat video apps but none seem to do a straight video to video with a tablet without all the extra visual connections to unwanted scenes. [xxx]

1. No. To call her all that is needed is a free Skype account that is signed into the Skype application that is supported by here device. So you would call her from your Skype account (Skype to Skype). You will only be able to reach her via Skype if she is connected to Wifi or a Phone data plan.
2. Device to Device as long as that device is capable of running Skype.
3. You can do a video call Skype to Skype as long as the devices used support video in Skype over Wifi or a data plan. You can't have a video call to a mobile or landline phone number because standard phone lines only support audio so even if video could be enabled because the phone has a camera there would be no medium to transmit that video.

I find your question confusing. If your tablet is connected to your home network it would consume data from your home network. If you tablet is connected to your work network, then it would consume data from your work network. Video calls are still essentially free as Skype doesn't charge you anything but you still have to pay for your Internet/data plan which is totally separate from Skype itself.

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

Same thing happened to me yesterday, my video settings were giving me a name of a video cam which doesn't exist on my pc. I coud see my contact and speak to them and they would hear me, but on my end, my picture was black.
Idiotic solution : I unplugged everything from the USB port and replugged again and surprise my video settings were back on to my microsoft cam like it should be and the strange name of the other one gone. Stupid really.
Another strange thing happening as well is that recently when I start browing the web, my camera blinks even if I am not connected to skype at all, and if I stay inactive on the same page it stops.
Call it being paranoid, but now I unplug my video cam w/sound from the usb port when I am not using it strange that a video cam youv'e never heard of in your video settings appears and same thing in audio settings like some malicious software downloaded itself.
So call me crazy

Hello What does this mean from Skype instruction page? "To use group video calls, at least one person on the call will need to have a Premium account". Does this mean if I upgrade to permium and try for a group video call, will one other person need to have permium also? Or does it mean that one person IN TOTAL (me) needs premium for a group call? thanks

as you already have a premium account, the other user/s don't need to have the same subscription.

So one day, I put my video calling to hide it for a while on the bottom right of my screen. I went back to open skype in fullscreen and went back out of it to go back to my game. Now I can't find my mini screen and I've tried reinstalling skype and I couldn't find any way of getting my mini screen again. My mini screen on the options is still turned on, so i turned it off and turned it back on but it still won't work. Please help, this is important to me!

Quit Skype (no Skype instances should be running, even in the background).
Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%\skype and then press Enter or OK button. Windows File Explorer will pop up. Find now the folder named as your Skype account. Open this folder. You will find there the config.xml file. You may see only config but with XML Document in the Type column.
Open this config.xml file in any text editor (e.g. Notepad). Find there a section starting with <CallMonitorPos> It should look something like this, but with different values for <X> and <Y> position:
<CallMonitorPos>
<X>1660</X>
<Y>0</Y>
</CallMonitorPos>You can edit these values or just delete the whole section. Save the changes and close the text editor.

I'm experiencing calls quality troubles during Voice and/or Video calls. Calls are started pretty good for 5-10 seconds. After that, Skype starting a kind of swallow words and sentences every 5 to 10 seconds. I can't figure out what my vis-a-vis says. At the same time, my vis-a-vis on other side is not experiencing such problems and hear my voice without any interruptions. OS: Win 7 Ultimate and Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with all the security updates Skype ver.: 7.24.85.124 & 4.3.0.37 respectively Win: Brandmauer set to ON; Linux: no brandmauer Firewall Win (No), Linux (No) Antivirus: Win(MS Security Essentials), Linux (No) MSE set to on and real-time protection - too. Internet connection: Broadband 20 Mbps LAN connection (synchronous for both sides), Ping 20 ms. Wi-Fi: router TP-Link TL-WR841ND with standard recommended setting in user instructions. Other apps: no drama and troubles with any apps that steams Voice/Video Additional info: having this issue during calls with different users from UA/US Please help or advice how to fix it.

Updated audio device drivers and everything got fixed. Easy. Generic drivers were faulty.

Hello, My problem is this: When I start call with my girlfriend my cam just freeze and stop recording. Problem is, that's hapenning only, when I call with GF. I tried to call someone else, and my camera works perfectly. Skype detects camera all the time in Settings. GF's camera is working properly and we can hear each other, but she cannot see me. Strange is, that the issue just appeared one day. We were video calling each other on daily basis. No common solution on Help page doesn't seem to helping. Any advices, hints or tricks? I keep getting these calls from what I think are websites saying that I have new video messages and I need to download a specific client to view them... I have no idea if this is supposed to happen or not but in essence the last time I actually downloaded the requested client I didn't get any video message... so is it spam or no? And in the case where it isn't spam, how the heck am I supposed to view this supposed video message?

it's a spam/scam. sending/receiving/viewing video messages doesn't require users to installed any kind of specific/special video viewer. In addition Skype also doesn't send such notifications for new video messages.
ignore it, block the sender, and do not open any link or download any stuff mentioned in that bogus message.

Such may contain unwanted elements that may harm your computer. Just to make sure, don't install it (if you haven't yet), or remove it from your system immediately. Also fully update your antivirus software then run a full antivirus scan.

if you are trying to video skype someone, if they are already on a call - does the video messaging just come up straight away? I had that happen twice, as I rung back...and kept getting thing to leave a video message.
Does this mean my friend was already on a skype call...or busy? As usually it picks up automatically and just opens their video feed? Anyone know? Not sure if Im explaining clearly...but would just like to know if they were already on a call or not.

And if I was stupid/curious enough to download the two different video players (viewcm.com and mailxq.com) what are the risks? I'm angry enough with "normal" harassment, and now a whole new way to make life more complicated? Is there a way to report the two senders to the Federal agency that deals with internet scams?
Sorry to be so negative, but I'm sick to death of this kind of crap.

I've just had a video message and I wondered if anyone else has had this on skype, the message said I had a video message from VIEWLP.COM . I've never heard of them but I don't want to open it just in case its a scam or a virus or something. I've been getting other messages from people I don't even know or want to know for a while and now this. Am I right to be afraid of this or what as this is going even further than the normal abuse. This is getting scary now.

If we check suspect spam, can that address be removed from all Skype users so they only get one or two calls per website - that should increase the cost fo spamming us.
