Skype 5.8.0.158 crashes multiple times on Windows 7 Hp Pavillion dv6

I have been using Skype on a regular basis and not had any problems (except ones associated with the internet slowing down).

The event log details are:

i have used Skype regularly for months without any problems save those associated with slow internet speeds.

Both Firefox and IE9 work fine.

The only updates this month have been
Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.121.737.0) which I don't think will have affected the n built camera driver or any other driver for that matter.

Please can you give me some help n this problem?

Same problem here! This is frustrating! My Skype won't even show. Just goes back to Desktop. Was working fine before. It opens and runs fine in Safe Mode. So it must be a driver issue.

If you are using Norton, then maybe you should also see this post:

You can also try to use Windows Restore Point in order to revert Windows to condition before Skype started to crash.

it is not Norton.  I have Norton, same version, on another 4 machines and Skype is running fine on them.  They all share the same settings.

Also, no changes were made to my machine since when Skype was working.

By the way, it is not a connection problem.  Skype won't open, period!
