I am currently on a grandfathered Skype Pro subscription, for which I pay USD 3.00 a month. I would like to try group video calling but understand that I need to switch to Skype Premium for that (which currently goes for USD 4.49 a month).

What are the main differences (besides group video chat and different monthly price) between these two subscriptions? What will I be loosing and gaining when switching from Pro to Premium?

What I need most is my Skype-To-Go number, so I wouldn't want to give that up with Premium, but I cannot find any information about whether that is still supported in Premium or not.

Thanks!

-J

Hi,

Skype Premium itself doesn't offer calling to any landlines or mobiles. Skype Premium enables you to make group video calls: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10868/What-is-Skype-Premium

But I think you are comparing Skype Pro with Skype Premium 3 or 12 months subscription that comes with Unlimited US & Canada: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/prices/premium

If you just need group video calling then you can purchase Skype Premium monthly or day pass and make group video calls.

In case you are thinking of replacing Skype Pro with Unlimited US & Canada that comes with Skype Premium bundle then I'd recommend checking Skype Pro benefits: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/skypepro/

More information: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1071/What-is-Skype-Pro

Keep in mind that Skype Pro is not offered anymore, if you cancel it then you won't be able to get it back.

Skype Pro is very similar to Unlimited US & Canada as they both cover US&Canada and have similar price, the main difference is that in order to call US & Canada with Skype Pro you need to be actually in one of these countries, but with Unlimited US & Canada subscription you don't. Then again with Skype Pro if for example you go to Germany then calling landlines in Germany is covered, but with Unlimited US & Canada only calls to 2 countries(US and Canada) are covered.

When it comes to Skype To Go, then this is not linked to subscriptions. Setting up Skype To Go is free of charge, but you need to have either a subscription or Skype Credit to pay for calls. It doesn't matter if you have Skype Pro or Unlimited US & Canada as long as you call country that is covered by your subscription.

Ok, I think I answered the Skype-To-Go question myself -- it is included with every subscription type.

My only remaining question then is what other features I will be loosing or gaining when switching from Pro to Premium. My only reason for switching would be to have group video calling -- is that the main difference? Also, do all people who I conference in to a group video call have to be on the Premium subscription, or just the initiator?

Other than calling Skype online contacts, I am using Skype mainly to call German landlines (from the U.S.). I also use it within Germany when traveling there. Are there any notable differences between Pro vs. Premium for my particular use case?

Thanks!

Is it not true that the cost of the online number is reduced by the Skype Pro package, I am not based in the USA so i do not benefit from the free calls to USA or Canada.

Is Skype pro still the best for me as I only have it for voicemail, and the discounted online number.

What are the benefits fo giving up skype pro.

How do we purchase a day pass for group video.
