Hi everyone,

I hope this is the right place to post this.

I have looked EVERYWHERE in the support area for this problem.

I did not download skype thru the windows store because at present I did not set up a Microsoft account when I turned on my new Toshiba Laptop.

I may set it up later but NOT for now.

I downloaded, at least I think I did, the skype version for Windows 8 Desktop.

I DO have the Skype ICON and when I click on it I get the sign-in screen.

I enter my name and password and in awhile I get a info line that says

"Skype can't connect"

ON MY OTHER LAPTOP that I previously used Skype on I did finally get logged into Skype OK and just had to reset my password but NOW I can log in on that laptop but NOT this laptop.

I of course have Windows 8 that came on it when I bought it.

Any suggestions please???

Thanks,

Mark

Do you have any security software installed on the computer?
Did a Free-trial antivirus come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it?

Is everyone just busy?

This is really frustrating!

I do NOT want to have to create a MicroSoft account JUST so I can use skype on this laptop!

It works on my other Windows XP laptop AND on another laptop we have, A Windows Vista OS!

I can't even get the Desktop version to let me sign in.

I can do everything else on the internet thru my connection but just NOT sign in to skype.

Please help?

Mark

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it came with Norton.

I checked the windows firewall and it was already set to allow skype.

I will check norton and post again

Yea!!!! It worked!

I had to add skype in Norton as a trusted program and now it works!

Thanks man!
