I connected my microsoft account with Skype when I upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7, but I'm hating how I can't select to which contacts (Windows Live or Skype) I'm available or not, since they became one now.

I'm hating this connection and I wanna remove it. How can I do it?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately there is no option to unlink. Contact Customer Service.

How can I contact Skype Customer Service?

To do this now you must be first logged into the web site - Skype.com.

In your account center go to:

Account Settings

Here you'll see the linked accounts, click "UNLINK".

you'll get a warning how Microsft and Skype are deeply interconnected, confirm this warning and continue to UNLINK.

This process is limited, be aware.

I have just removed my Microsoft account from connection  to Skype because this is what the Support info said I must do in order that my contacts show. I already have been using Skype for years. Now with my new Laptop, I have Windows 8 and everything is different. I log in and my name appears on the left with  my photo, but no contacts anywhere. Instead I get a page that says I can buy credit and so I did, and still nothing. I don't even get a page where I could make a phone call or a video call. Nothing. Please help!

How do I unlink my Skype and Microsoft or Facebook accounts?

To unlink your Skype and Microsoft or Facebook accounts:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. In the Account details section, click Account settings.
  3. In the Linked accounts section, click Unlink next to your Microsoft or Facebook account ID.

The Unlink option next to the Microsoft and Facebook account IDs in the Account information section on the Skype My Account profile page.

  1. An information window opens. Read the information and, if you agree, select Continue to unlink your Skype and Microsoft or Facebook accounts.

If the accounts are successfully unlinked, a confirmation message will be displayed at the top of the page. The unlinked account ID will be removed from the Skype Account Profile page.

If you created a new Skype account when you first signed in to Skype with your Microsoft or Facebook account and you decide to unlink your Skype and Microsoft or Facebook accounts, you’ll lose all the Skype products you purchased for that account. If you have any Skype Credit or a subscription left, you may want to use it up before unlinking your accounts. We also recommend that you back up all contacts you added to that Skype account.
To unlink your new Skype and Microsoft or Facebook accounts:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. In the Account details section, click Account settings.
  3. In the Linked accounts section, click Unlink next to your Microsoft or Facebook account ID.
  4. A message appears telling you what to expect when you unlink your Skype ID from a Microsoft or Facebook account. Read the information and, if you agree, select Close account.
