I just started using the new Skype App for Windows 8. How do I do a video test? With my previous version of Skype, I could click video settings and see a picture of myself and adjust the brightness levels and the contrast and so on. How do I do this with the Skype app for Windows 8?

There are no video adjustments on the Windows 8 version, they expect you to use the camera adjustments available through the camera app.  If there are none, download the Desktop version of skype and adjust the camera there.  If you're extra, extra lucky, the settings will take and will remain the same when you test your image.  The only image you can test of yourself is to do a real or fake call, or to go to your settings, options and there should be a tiny, tiny icon/avatar that shows your image.

But actually adjusting the camera with Skype for Modern/Metro, nope, that's not an option.

Mis-read... thought you were talking about adjusting the settings
