No sound!

I have exactly the same issue, now my daughter does, as well.  We work on Macs.

The settings, as you will well know by now, are fully irrelevant to this bug.  Settings are/were/will be perfect.  It happens daily, even hourly, no matter what the setting are.  To use Skype I have to sign out completely and sign back in.  Tremendously unnecessary and annoying- especially since Skype knows about this for some time and apparently has not f0ound it vital enough to change.  It is free, of course.

Until a fix is available, please try this workaround:

 

  1. Preferences > Notifications > Details
  2. Event: Contact Becomes Available
  3. Uncheck Play Sound

Done that as well - don't work

 

The only fix that works is to use Viber instead

Unfortunately, you are right. None of the proposed fixes have any effect. Maybe, sadly, Skype is suffering the same loss of genius as Apple. Too bad - it was nice while it lasted.

This fix seems to work if I add no. 4.

On Mac Book Pro OS 10.8.4,  Skype 6.11

 

Until a fix is available, please try this workaround:

 

  1. Preferences > Notifications > Details
  2. Event: Contact Becomes Available
  3. Uncheck Play Sound
  4. Turn off ALL notification for Contact Becomes Available ie. Turn off bounce icon, speak text, display notification

I have exactly the same problem. I have Skype since years, but suddenly there was no sound. Did you solve the problem in the meantime?

HI NIck, 

 

If you read all the posts on this you will see that the page you have posted is totally irrelevant to this thread - please just let us know when Skype fixes this bug. When I phone support they tell me there is no problem and just to reinstall skype, which does not work. I pay for my Skype and rely on it - but recently I am looking for alternatives. The Mac community is becomign convinced this is a PC conspiracy - PLEASE sort it out and please read the posts before responding with an Audio settings answer!
