Skypes no longer allowing me join group calls and use IM within group purposes.

The error message I get when trying to type in the IM box is:

"This is a legacy conversation from an old Skype client. Sending messages is not supported."

And this is highlighted in a grey colour?

Can anyone help at all? My version of Skype is: 6.7.0.373

You are using old version of Skype, please download the latest 6.19.

Also, make sure your OS X is updated, you should have 10.9.4.

Still doesn't work. I can't even see the group chats I'm added into now also.

You need to upgrade Skype, the latest version is 6.19. You can get it from skype.com/downloads

Same problem.

And before someone suggests I upgrade... I have the latest version of skype for Mac Mavericks. I've deleted it and reinstalled it several times. I've logged out of skype on all other devices (android) as several people suggested... nothing works.

Group calls are broken. As soon I add a second person, the call button is disabled... and if I try to type a message to the group, it sits "pending" forever.

If someone else brings me into a group call, the text messaging in the group is broken, with a mesage "This is a legacy conversation from an old client".

I have the latest version, so it's time for Skype to issue a fixed update. The product is currently worthless.

The problem is that the other people you're connecting with are using versions of Skype which are too old. They're creating P2P conversations and adding you to them, and then your client is migrating them to cloud conversations… and the result is that you can't use the P2P conversations anymore.

In this case, "old" means that your colleague is using version 6.3. Every other version either won't let the user sign in or will properly handle group chats.

The solution is to have the people you work with upgrade their clients to the latest (7.0) as well. I know this isn't ideal, but it is a solution which you can enact right now. Please let us know if this addresses your problem.

My problem was fixed a long time ago. All I had to do was uninstall skype using ccleaner and then reinstall skype. Haveee to use ccleaner to uninstall first.
