Unfortunately I manually replaced the camera plugin in the past, did the OS X update and lost my camera again.

Could you please provide a very detailed description as to how I should proceed in fixing this bug?

Problem solved in Skype community by Sebastian, i share the solution here for other people who have this frustrating problem.

Hi to All

i have the same problem, but i have found a solution!!!

1. You need Time Machine

2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/

3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).

4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.

5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine

6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.

This solution is only for this time until Apple make update for this problem!!!

If you don't have time machine backup download the plugin from this link: AppleCamera.plugin.zip ‏956 KB

On the latest MB Air 2013 and the new MB Pro Retinas, replacing the new applecamera with the old  does not work. A clean install of the OS does not work either. It's the first thing I tried, hoping it would work like had for the past coupe times. Skype says they have no interest in providing 64 bit support. As Apple rolls out new laptops with 64bit video, Skype wil no longer work so the hunt is on for a suitable substitute. ooVoo works, but are there any better suggestions? (Besides everyone buying Macs so we can use facetime?)

Could you explain (in simple terms, for those of us who are not very tech savvy) how to revert back to the original version in order to use the new Apple fix? I did a manual fix in September, just updated my computer, and now my camera is missing again. Thank you!!

Sorry doesn't work with a MBA 2013 bought 2 months ago. It NEVER worked actually.. updating Skype doesn't change anything, I even changed to OS Mavericks.. same thing.. Skype "works" but no video at all.. installing the Cam PlugIn doesn't help either... this really is stupid, maybe apple intentionally "blocking" skype in order to "promote" facetime ??

I think we're all figuring out that the folks at Skype do not care that many of us cannot use the video feature.

Ah,, well.  easy come, easy go.

If anyone does have sugestions that work for (e.g.) a 2013 Macbook Air, please post them for all of us.

Many thanks!
