I downloaded Skype for Mac OSX 10.5.8.

When I get the window where I am supposed to drag the Skype icon into my applications folder, the Skype icon has a diagonal line through it.  When I drop it into the applications folder, I get this message, "You can't open the application "Skype" because it is not supported on this architecture.

I have NO idea what this means or what to do.

Please help

It probably means your processor is a PowerPC.  The latest versions of Skype require an Intel processor.  If you were to scroll to the bottom of this forum page and click on Mac under Get Skype, then scroll near the bottom of that page, you will find a button for downloading version 2.8, which will probably run on your Mac.  If that fails, go to oldapps.com/skype.php and pick an older version.

In all probability, you have a PowerPC processor, which will not run the latest versions of Skype.  Version 2.8 should work: http://www.skype.com/intl/en/get-skype/on-your-computer/macosx/2-8/downloading/

Hi,

You might try to download == from this link instead. ==

Should work on your PowerBook G4 PPC.

BTW don't forget to untick the "keep up to date" checkbox from Skype preferences >>> General !

thanks so much for your answer. I appreciate it very much! I tried the LInk. Unfortunately everytime i download it it stops while downloading and it says: " mounting failed"

any idea why that happens?

Thanks again in advance for some advice.
