Okay,so I have an Asus k52f and the webcam is mounted upside down. So i have to do a workaround for the webcam to show a proper image. but the problem is, this workaround only works with Skype 2.x versions. and skype recently updated to 4.x versions. In the ubuntu repositories i.e the software center, they still have the 2.x version. How do I get the .deb file from the software center so that i could save it and use it incase ubuntu updates its repositories?

I don't know how to isolate the .deb file that would be downloaded from the repository.  However, the 2.2b download was recently noted by another forum user as still available to download from Skype.

"I found out, it is still possible to download older Skype versions:

http://download.skype.com/linux/skype-ubuntu_2.2.0.35-1_i386.deb
http://download.skype.com/linux/skype_static-2.2.0.35.tar.bz2
http://download.skype.com/linux/skype-2.2.0.35.tar.bz2

Hope this helps!

Hi

First you have to uninstall the verion 2 you are using. Then download from Skype the new version, you get a choice from a ist i used 10.04 32-bit.

It sould download to your desktop.

Right click and at or near the top of the list instal by Software center. It worked for me and i am happy with it.

As mentioned you an always go back to the previous version. For now i am more than happy with it.
