A couple days ago I posted that it looked like Bluetooth was finally fixed in this latest release. Unfortunately, I should have tested more thoroughly. The first couple of calls I made were garbled and I still had to fall back on using AT&T. Bluetooth is still not working correctly.
I agree with users who are saying to just scrap this version of Skype and start from scratch. Until I know that Skype will actually fix this client and restore its functionality, I won't be renewing my subscription calling plan. If everyone who is actually spending money with Skype did the same thing, engineering might actually do something and get this fixed.
The same problem still continues. Such a slow progress. I guess this is so called MicroSoft effect. I believe Skype mac team can stand against the dark force. Please fix this BT issue!!
As stated earlier in this string, the only way to get Skype to work correctly with Bluetooth, at least with iOS, is to force-quit the app at the end of each call. Undenyably, a stupid way to use the app, but it's the only way if you want to use a Bluetooth headset.
Bluetooth is still broken in the newest release (4.0.1303.) Since it's obvious that no one from Skype engineering reads these posts, I've decided to raise the noise level and start tweeting about the problem using the address @Skype and hashtag #Skype. I'm commited to doing one tweet a day until someone at Skype finally focuses on fixing this basic functionality on the iPhone. You can follow me (or Skype) if you'd like @bocaboy.
If everyone here started tweeting this every day, it might be embarrassing enough that someone would actually look at the problem.
On the latest version released recently 4.0.1303, I had the same issues. It seemed that I needed to receive a Skype call with the Bluetooth headset enabled in order for the app to recognize that the BT headset was there and even offer the option to select it. However, after receiving that first call it seems to work fine for calling out as well now.
I thought it was a fluke but I've seen the same thing on two phones. Both iPhones were 4S models with the latest IOS 5.1.1 that just came out yesterday.
I have changed 2 bluetooth headsets, one was a cheap Jabra and the other one that I have right now is the latest Motorola S-10. With the S-10, initially I was having delay in the voice both ways and also a problem with skipping music on the iphone 4 but after I took it to the apple store, the tech did some sort of software reset that did not make me lose any data and fixed the skipping music. I then upgraded to 5.1.1 and now I still sometimes face delay in voice. The problem is that it does not happen all the time and hence it is difficult to form a pattern and hence find out what is the problem.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
