The latest version is so bad, if my call end abruptly then the next time I call either they cant hear me or I cant hear them. Hang up and try again - same thing! I have to close off the app and reopen and login and then its ok until it screws up again.
Each update I get hopeful that they will at the BARE minimumm the bugs would be fixed and i could just simply use it for a call...seems im expecting too much

The latest update on Skype for iOS is terrible. It keeps dropping calls, it does not show when someone is online. If you loose a call you need to re-start the app to be able to call again.
Then the tillt thing is bad. Before it was not tied to the settings on the phone, now you need to allow the phone to flipp screen to use the skype horizontally when using cam.
This update really made the experience anything but good.

Not only the worst version of Skype for IOS, I think it is the worst app I ever used on my iPhone !
Nothing seems work properly in this version, I could not make phone calls, and even the Skype calls response so so so much slower than previous version.
The Stablility that you ridculously proud of... Not at all...
The Look, when it's not working, it doesn't matter how good it looks...
The accessibility, so far, I can only call sucessfully once out of ten attemps... since I have this worldwide package deal for another two months, I will wait for some improvement. Otherwise, I am seriously thinking to change to another Voip phone provider.

I had no problem with this version until today when I updated the iOS on my iPhone to 5.1.1. Now the application shuts down as soon as I log in so it's totally unusable. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Skype and rebooted my phone etc but nothing works.

Update: I restored to version 3.5 via iTunes, then I updated to version 4.0 via the App store, then I did a hard reboot (top on/off button and main button at the same time) and NOW it seems to work. I have only called Skype test call so far but at least it doesn't shut down automatically anymore.

I agree with other posters, I was hoping to find the answer on the forum, but it seems to be I need the older version of skype as I have an iTouch first gen and the new skype won't work with the iOS.
It would be awesome if I could find the old version of Skype to download! Thanks!

I couldnt even use Skype today, we both restarted our phones, signed out, signed in, closed off skype, re-opened....every time it would ring once and disconnect. Hate to say it but I actually had to revert back to using Viber and it worked fine. Might be deleting Skype altogether the way things are going

I'm running an iPhone 4 with latest version of iOS and having some problems with this version.
If I go to the messages screen and tap on a recent event (e.g. the one line of message it displays) it highlights that message and then becomes unresponsive for a significant amount of time (long enough that I thought it was crashing; I've only just discovered that if I leave the phone for a while it moves on - I've just timed it and this time it took about a minute); if I leave the application to go to the home screen I have to start the whole thing again.
Have also experienced problems with chat when it does work - the one occassion I was able to use chat I was limited to displaying the most recent line of chat at the top of the screen - I think it had got stuck this way from the landscape mode. As I write this I am currently waiting for the chat history to load - fortunately it doesn't hold everything up the same way the old version used to, but it seems to take several minutes to display a relatively small portion of previous conversation.
I don't know if this is something I can fix in settings (if so I haven't found it) but I barely get any notification of a call in silent mode if I don't have the app on-screen. I get a vibration but no visual indication, so it's indistinguishable from an email alert.
Finally the indication of whether a message has been delivered or not seems to have disappeared, which was really useful particularly if experiencing connection problems or if the other person is using invisible mode.
While I could tolerate these kind of issues in a desktop application where I can multitask, they make it frustrating to use on my iPhone. It's my primary means of communication in a long distance relationship and the sponteneity of being able to use a mobile device that has come with the last couple of versions has become increasingly important, particularly when we're both on the move.
Aside from all that I appreciate the service and there seem to be a lot of improvements; I'm looking forward to exploring them if it's possible to fix these issues, otherwise I will need to find a way to downgrade.

I've started a new discussion for the hotfix update we released today. Please continue here: http://community.skype.com/t5/iPhone/Skype-for-iOS
I recommend to download the latest Skype and search first.
To get the most out of Skype I recommend Skype Premium.
