Skype 3.8 for iPad with improved retina graphics

Thanks Claudius. When I attempt to download the latest version, I'm taken to the App Store which currently indicates that I have Skype installed already. However, when I look at which version is actually installed on my iPad3, it says Version 3.7.61. Any ideas on how I can get the latest version 3.8 installed on my iPad3? Thanks. 😊 Mike

I just got an iPad 3 and installed Skype from the App Store.  The video icon & SMS icon are grayed out.  I was unable to find an answer searching this site.  Suggestions?

I live in Japan and currently use skype with my home computer and Android(Dell Streak)mobile/computer.

I'm thinking of buying an ipad....installing skype and using this as my primary phone/computer......therefore cancelling the phone portion of my contract...

Skype can be used to call non-skype participating landlines and mobile phones.Many of my friends currently have skype on their ipods and/or android phones.

Besides the bulky computer/ telephone and lack of emergency calliing(perhaps).Can you forsee  disadvantages to this idea?

I cancelled my phone contract to use Skype on the ipad as my main phone number with an online number. It was a joke.Skype for ipad is a joke and unreliable. The video and call quality was very poor. Bluetooth only worked for the first call and then didnt work again.

I had to go out an buy a proper phone.

Dont rely on Skype for ipad its useless

Sorry for the late reply here: The version we labelled "3.8" bears the internal version number 3.7.61 indeed. It still contains the updated retina graphics.

Totally lame update, why don't you fix the bugs instead. Skype needs to bein foreground to ring, lame. Bluetooth keyboard not working. Lame. Forgive me for not getting excited about retina graphics for a small proportion of your user base, I have the ipad3 and Id rather have an app which doesn't crash every 15minutes and can run properly in the background

this version of Skype for Ipad is extremely slow, and the inability to use more than one phone number per contact (like the iphone does) need to be addressed immediately

Thanks for clairification, but I believe my 4 attempts to down load 3.8 to get the latest version to replace 3.7.61 cannot be that uncommon and a totally frustrating experience. 3.8 should be 3.8. The reason I wanted the latest version was to get the video working for my new Ipad 3. I thought that may solve the problem -when I made the test call I only achieved voice. Thanks
