What the hell Skype...the latest version on iphone 4 is absolute rubbish!
My partner and i rely on Skype as a big part of our communication, as we are on opposite sides of the world atm, but lately we can't even keep up to date with our messages as skype keeps crashing or my messages don't go through unless i keep signing out and then in again or they just don't go through and come in until hours later. So **bleep** frustrating! Not to mention the call quality has gone down the toilet too!
I'm just waiting for someone else to bring out something better to use because Skype just is not cutting it anymore!
Lift your game because i'm pretty sure it won't be long until something bigger and better comes along.

Hello!
How can I make a downgrade to previous version? From where I can download?
This version is stupid.
Thanks!

Yea, so I was forced to find an alternate solution to Skype because of the reliability issues and very poor call quality. I looked into Google Voice and got setup witht Talkatone iphone software. Youre able to turn off the voice compression for the WiFi and it made a giant quality change in the call, we could finally understand each other and it sounded like a phone call should. Without all the transcoding smashing the freaking clarity, I enjoyed talking for hours instead of being stressed out over every single word and having to repeat sentances like I do on Skype. WOW Google Voice, it was so nice
of course its an international call, so it costs money since I dont have the local phone number in that country like i do here with Skype. My 2 hour call cost me about $30. But it was so worth it, I loved it. Sigh. ![]()

since the update i have immense static on my iphone4 on 4.3.3 over my voice. tried headset, test call, mute/unmue, everything. it just sounds between awful and too fuzzy to understand, on every call i place. renders the whole app useless.
any ideas?
Yes idea. The static is likely from the transcoding being applied to the call quality which is compressing the sound and destroying the useful information while introducing garbage in the audio as it expands it back from being squeezed nearly to death.

Yes I too am now using google talk which is briliiant. Sorry Skype but I had no choice I run a business for missing and unidentified people, my skype account and skypein number is attached to that business. You can imagine how important it is for me to have Skype running correctly.
Like I said I have now moved to Google Talk I get a online number for free and free calls all over the USA and Canada. The call quality is excellent, never crashes and is so reliable.
Once again my business is running great its a pity the people who i pay subscriptions to (skype) cant get this right.

you can try to close other applications running in your iPod Touch while using Skype to avoid or minimize such crashes.

@primemover: you must be joking. skype crashes even when is the ONLY running app. Anyways no app should require closing everything else in order to run properly.
I can't understand why is this hard to come up with a working solution. skype used to have a reliable solution. Do they fired the old development team?
