I have set Skype 3.5.118 for Sign in Automatically -> ON, and Go Offline -> Never. Nonetheless, it goes offline by itself and I miss calls! THis is an iPad 2 WiFi only, and I swear I am within range (20 ft away from radio) and it just goes offline. All of my other background apps like Mail, CNBC, Facebook, Calendar, etc... run in the background and stay connected! I get my alerts and mail throughout the day. Only Skype drops offline and I miss calls. Grr!

Bob, i have the same issue and ive provably missed many calls because of it. Also, the moderators suggestion on your last post ro kill all other parallel running apps is completely ridiculous.
OK, I'm not alone thanks. Yes, the previous "solution": was a complete shot in the dark, and as you say ridiculous. Under iOS 4.3 and later we have, ehem, multitasking!! Apparently my guardian angel has never double-clicked the home button and scrolled through the list of active apps
Enter Skype > my information > status > online . Keep this set up and try. Do you get the incoming call alert including the sound and message ? Bob
I have that set (Status Online). That is not the problem. The problem is that, after I get a mail message saying that I was offline, I start Skype on the iPad and it has to reconnect as though I logged off Skype. Eventually, it starts, my onloine contacts populate, and I can then receive calls.
I repeat, my Skype is not remaining online, it logs itself off after "a whille" with no indication. I have not set it to invisible or offline, it is really offline and needs to log in again.
Is there anyone from Skype here who knows anything about the internals of this app who can answer this?
More info. Today I set up my alarm to go off every 4 hours. I then opened the Skype app on the iPad and it was connected. So if I manually refresh it by opening it every 4 hours, it stays connected... so far. Just a test for today.
Try to delete app Skype and reinstall again from App store. Keep login and online status. So far I do not meet your problem.
No change. The app was not corrupted. It was operating perfectly except for this fault. I have also tried changing Settings, Skype, Go Offline to 30 minutes, then back to Never. No change. This is a bug in Skype for sure. I suspect it is related to my iPad 2 being a WiFi Only model. I am in continuous range with WiFi, solid signal, though.
I am using the same version of Skype and I have **exactly** the same problem. I have even already tried all the advices listed in this thread with no success. This is very very very very annoying.
Is there anyone who had this same problem and had it solved somehow?
