Delete the app and reupload it - as others suggested - it works. It is a pain, and clearly a bug Skype must fix, but meantime - you can get it to work until they do.

I am in afghanistan. This is my only means of communication to my family to tell them when i'm moving, safe, alive for the day. My wife is losing her mind worried. Fix your **bleep**ing app. I pay money for the mobile phone calls I make. You are denying me that service. I will be owed compensation for my money being locked up in your service that isn't working.

Been having this problem since the new release.  If you are like me, I will be showing my discontent with their lack of willingness to resolve this issue by even allowing us to have a previous (working) version, by terminating my service.  Goodbye skype.

I had this problem and removed skype intending to reload app but when I tried to reload message came up that I needed ios4.3. My phone is  a 3 but I didn't encounter this when I first downloaded the skype app??

This seems to be an issue for many of us, me included.  I have seen that "they are aware and working the issue" but there is yet a fix I may have missed for Ipad?  Delete and download again, for example?  Thanks!

I deleted skype from my iphone 4 and from my itunes.  I downloaded the updated April 30th version on itunes and reinstalled it on my phone.  now it works fine.
