Iphone _ Does Skype stay connected when phone is locked?

I can't find an answer to this question anywhere !

If I don't use my Iphone for a few minutes, i.e it locks its self. 

Is it possible for my contacts to contact me without having the phone and app open.  If not then this isn't for me.

I have tried using notifications in iphone, all turned on, skype app says never logout.

Any Suggestions ??  Im i missing something here !

Hi,

Normally the Skype App can run in the background whether the iPhone is locked or not. I have heard of some users complaining that the previous version was buggy when combined with iOS5, but since you are running the latest version hopefully this is a thing of the past.

Before upgrading to iOS5 I had no problems whatsoever with running Skype in the background and on a locked iPhone. When somebody called me or sent me a message the phone would wake up and I could accept the call.

the only way I receive calls and know about it is if I have Skype app on all day and connected to iTunes, so basically I can't use any other app when I am at work as I need Skype on.

I am currently looking at alternatives to Skype as my money doesn't seem to matter to them as the app is worthless

It is well documented that the current iOS skype is buggy and logs out at random intervals.

I have had the same problem. Skype just disconnects without warning. It is very unreiable on the Iphone.

i have same exact problem with my iphone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 and skype 3.6.218

as soon as phone goes to sleep (screen black/ locked) i get no notifications when someone calls me after 10mins of screen being locked
