Ipad2 skype no video incoming, only outgoing

Did you check that:
a) you have exchanged contact details with the video caller
b) he/she is using the latest Skype version available on their platform

I just got my iPad 2 and a big reason was to be able to Skype while traveling. I installed Skype, but the "Video" button on the test call is not enabled. Voice test call works fine. Help!

More info. I tried uninstalling Skype for iPad and installing Skype for iPhone, and that did not work - it did not even show me a video button for the test call. I have iOS 5.1 and both cameras work.

Bingo, this worked. So you have to be requested and accepted as a friend or contact.

To clarify, I sent from my wife's account did a search for my account. There's an option to request as friend. This is sent. On my iPad, I see the message (in Skype) and select the check for yes. Voilá, video now works both ways works.

Thanks - this worked for me too. I asked a friend to call me onn Skype,a nd it took a while to connect., but it finally worked. Why the Video Call button is there on the Test Call at all is a big question....

This just worked for me and my friend.   Make sure that the other person has accepted the friend request and they are now showing as online.  I have winxp and they had an ipad, it didn't work until we both showed as online and in each others contact list as online.

This has now been fixed.

When you search for someone to add to your directory, you then add them and a contact request is generated. This contact request states "Please accept me as a contact so we can call and instant message each other." If your contact does not accept this email, then you are unable to initiate a video call, but you can initate a voice call only.



Once they accept, the video becomes available. Simple as that. It is obviously a security feature and I am surprised that the techies at Skype have not been on here to explain the behaviour of their application.



Good luck and resend out those contacts and ask them to accept you.

Hi, here is check list: 1) Your are accepted as friend by other user, you are in his contacts list, and you see his status (e.g. online). 2) You are premitted to use Camera on iPad, check: Settings > General > Restrictions: - Restrictions are Off or - Restrictions are On and Camera is On (in Allow list) If changes was made, then Turn Off and On Your iPad. 3) You are not offline.
