FIX for ACCOUNT DB IO ERROR Please Read!!! [ Edited ]

Temp. Solutions to the Skype Account DB IO ERROR bug that may appear on select iOS devices. 

We all know how annoying it is when bugs and errors get in the way of our daily activities, especially when we are trying to Skype our friends and loved ones from a mobile device. Below are some simple solutions to the error mentioned above.  

Please not that is NOT a perminant fix for this bug. It may accur again under certain conditions I have yet to determine; however, it does not appear to show up as frequently as others when they are deleting the app and reinstalling.

Tip 1: force quit Skype app 

1.) begin by launching the Skype app. Try to sign in to get the error to pop up.

 2.) now hold down the power button until the "slide to turn off" screen appears. 

3.) letting go of the power button, begin holding down the Home button for at least ten seconds or until you are returned to your home screen. 

4.) begin launching the Skype app and try to sign in again. You should have success.  

This method is the fastest and the error shows up the least after doing this. 

Tip 2: Hard Boot iPad Device

 1.) begin by holding down the home and power buttons at the same time for at least ten seconds, ignoring the "slide to turn off" screen.

 2.) The iPad will then begin to do its hard boot process. This should take no less then 3-7 minutes. 

3.) Begin launching the Skype app and sign in. You should have success.

  This method is not the best but it works for any app that is having issues with your current device.

  Tip 3: Remove and Re-install Skype App 

1.) press and hold down onto the Skype app until they begin to shake.

 2.) letting go of the app, click on the plus/cross red button on the upper left of the Skype app to remove the app.

  3.) confirm the app removal. 

4.) redownload the latest version on Skype from the iTunes app store.

 5.) launch the Skype app and then try to sign in with your user ID and Password. You should have success.

  This method is the least suggested for anyone as I have seen numerous complaints that the error continues to pop up.

Ya but this iPad doesn't send the proper double space as it should so it got all bundled up in one paragraph instead of being nice and clean. I have to go on a pc to fix it I think, which won't be till this weekend. Once I do, I'm sure others would appreciate the ease of reading without actually searching where the breaks would be.

Another method that as mentioned by a user on this forums (sorry I forgot your Mae already, kudos to you) is closing te app via the multi tasking bar on the iOS device. Do this by doing the following: 1.) double click on the home button on your device. The multitasking bar will appear below. 2.) select and hold on the Skype app until the apps begin to shake. You may need to wave your finger from left to right to find the Skype app. 3.) click on the red cross/plus on the upper left of the Skype app to close it. 4.) click on the home button to finish your change and relaunch the Skype app. You should ave success.

Update on latest solution to the account DB io error: when closing the Skype app through the multi tasking bar, you may not be able to see the Skype app on the bar if you have run it the first time without hitting the home screen. If you do not see the Skype app on the multi tasking bar, please click the home button to return to the home screen then do the following steps provided above to close the Skype app through the multi tasking bar.

Thanks. I have 2 iPads a 1 and 2 and both started this. Is a real pain in the neck as still comes back occasionally

It is annoying but solution numbe one will resolve the situation a lot longer then other solutions. Number 4 is the fastest, but still causes the error to display quicker for some reason. I don't think number 4 solution actually hard boots the Skype app completely, including the files it needs to run that is in the background of the iPad database.
