Chat Issues with Skype for iPhone 3.7

[ Edited ]

Hi,

Just wanted to list the issues that I'm still seeing with skype 3.7. Most of my problems relate to Chat as that's what i predominantly use it for.

1. Still no indication for pending messages. This used to work fine before all the iffy updates started, where messages were put in italics until they'd actually been delivered. On the android app, this functionality is still there with the message marked as pending until it's actually delivered. Please bring this back? I've been asking for this since it first disappeared months ago now but it is a massive issue as you have no way of knowing if someone has received a message or not, especially since message delivery isn't as reliable as it once was so you can't always assume it's been sent or delivered straight away. This has been and continues to be my biggest issue since all these 'bad' updates started. Several aesthetic UI changes have been implemented since then, but this key functionality has still not been addressed.

2. Online status not reflected in the Messages tab. You can frequently have someone marked as offline in your message list, but online in the contacts tab, so it's hard to know which is correct.

3. Delay in messages coming through/notifications (yes they are setup correctly in the settings).  Sometimes i only get a message appear if I then send a subsequent one, which means that you can frequently miss a message as it doesn't appear straight away, even when  you're signed in etc.

4. Chat history takes an age to load again and sometimes crashes skype. This was a problem back in the first 'bad' update but had subsequently appeared to have been fixed. It looks like this fix has been undone somehow so could you please look into that too.

It also squashes some messages when you load lots of history, making them almost disappear so that they're unreadable.

I'm using an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1.

Thanks

I am having all of the same issues as you. What I have tried was deleting other conversations in my chat logs to see if this would allow Skype to run more smoothly, but it only worked for a little bit...

Re: Chat Issues with Skype for iPhone 3.7

The problems mentioned by you makes using skype almost impossible. I use skype for my work and I'm starting to think that either I should change my iPhone or to use an alternative to skype. Well, I like my iPhone, so is there anyone who knows good alternatvies for skype?

Re: Chat Issues with Skype for iPhone 3.7

I have verion 4.01325 on my Iphone 4S and I'm having the same problem with the chat. It either takes hours to get back into the conversation and when I finally do it takes another 30 to 45 min to load the history before I can type anything. Getting into skype chat can be a chore as well as I will click on the conversation I want and then it will freeze and then latter on kick me out. I have to click on the app several times before it finally will open the conversation.
