it only works if u start skype from windows 8 main app screen

one tip... maybe this bug has something to do with latest internet explorer version that comes with windows 8 developer preview!! Does skype uses some of its components?? Well, it's just a tip though. Waiting for a new release that really works.. Best regards, Jorge Faria

For those still having problems, try testing with either 5.6.0.110 or 5.5.0.124. Skype is continuing to have two releases for some reason, as if 5.6 isn't ready for primetime yet.

I will try those two versions.... 

But to those saying that it only works from the Metro UI, it makes no difference for us with a constant problem.

Holy Crap guys !!!!

FINALLY !! 

Version 5.5.0.124 works!! just rebooted, skype starts without a problem!

I have w8 64x CP  I have installed latest skype 5.8 it starts eating ram like 1 gb above and freezes the system I tried the comparability mode and run almost in everything but still no luck can some one suggest me or the developer are still working on this ?
