Downloading Problems

I have been trying to upgrade to Skype 5.8 but I keep getting an error about problems with the server. It does not make any difference if I go to the manual download method. Since I am paying for the Pro version of Skype, I really wanted to take advantage of the multiple video (which has never worked properly). Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you very much for the quick response! The file ending in .msi installed with no problem. I can't wait to try the multiple video option and see if it works properly.

What exactly was the problem with the other methods of installing which I tried?

You've got me.    Skype has periodic server problems and I have no clue whey they can't fix them once and for all.

In any case, I've found v5.8 to be the best version of Skype so far.  I hope you do too.

I'm having problems dowloading Skype onto my LapTop. I keep getting this pop up that says "The files Skype needs to work cant be found download and reinstallskype to fix the problem." I have many times and still it wont work

If you've actually downloaded and run the installer from one of the links I posted above, and you're still getting that error message, try this:

Hold the Windows key and type r.  In the box that comes up type %programfiles%\Skype\Phone <enter> or %programfiles% (x86)\Skype\Phone if you're running a 64 bit version of Windows.

Is there a Skype.exe or Skype file located there?  If so, does double-clicking on it start Skype?

Most likely, your Windows registry database contains wrong data on location of user special folders. Hopefully you can fix this using the procedure provided here:

I'm trying to download my skype onto my new logictec tv.  Seems I've succesfully downloaded it but it has not given me an icon to my apps and will not allow me to sign in.  Better stated, I can sign in but I just can't get to the my page with my contacts and where I can IM.  Thanks for your suggestions.

I assume you powered down and powered up just to see if that makes a difference. If not, can you reinstall and do that as well?

After downloading skypesetup_5.8.0.154.msi I run it but one message came for fatal error that "failed to get proc address for D3DPERF_setoptions (d3dn.dll)" Please help
