update won't quit notifying [ Edited ]

This current update message is a pain!!!  It keeps saying updatee and I keep doing it - it processes and then keeps saying the same message when I open the software. I went in and turned off the update and I went in and made the service manual. I even took its executables and stuck them in an archive folder. It still does it. They need an update for their update. If anyone finds out how to make this dumb update message go away, please email me at **removed for privacy**! Many thanks!!

If I try to use the installer I get an error about "another version of this product is already installed." By the way the .msi file seems to be a downgrade: my version is 5.10.59.114 and the .msi is 5.10.0.116.

The .59 means nothing. 5.10.0.116 as a later version than 5.10.59.114.

You may try the procedure outlined here in order to install a new version of Skype without using any installer program:

Be aware that as of today, the latest Skype version is 5.10.0.116

http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_5.10.0.116.msi

You should also be advised to make a copy of the currently installed Skype.exe file; just in the case that you will regret the update.

I just uninstalled skype first before reinstalling using your link and I now have the latest version.
