skype stopped re cognizing my webcam when I installed new skype update [ Edited ]

Last week when I started to make a skype call an offer popped up to upgrade to a newer version of skype so I said yes. But since then, Skype isnt recognizing my acer netbookbook's webcam, even though the webcam works fine when I test it without skype. I can see the other person I am calling but they can't see me, and when I click to make a video call Skype tells me it doesn't find a webcam. What do I do?

What do you see when you go to Tools -> Options -> Video settings?

when i go to skype tools/options/video settings  it says no webcam recognised.  webcam was working fine before last upgrade of skype     help please

What type webcam?

What version of Skype do you have now?  Click on Help > About Skype for the specific version number.

And what version of Windows are you running?  XP?  Vista?  Win 7 or 8?
