skype cant connect

I have the same problem.  In my case the domestic router is fully functional and I can access any page I want on the internet.  Like the originator of this query Skpe simply says it can't connect to the internet when I enter my Skype name and password.  Please note that the username and pw work OK on the Skype site and I have successfully engaged Skype in changing my password.  I too have reinstalled Skype and it has made no difference.  Nothing seems to work and the situation is most unsatisfactory if all the support Neil can provide is to bleat for more and more irrelevent technical information.  This is clearly a compatibility problem with Skype software and needs to be treated as such.

Reply: my laptop is having the same issue. Connection to my Skype account on other computers functions.  However, when I attempt to connect via my laptop after downloading the new version Skype gives me the same response you get: it attempts to connect when after typing in my act info followed by the arrow indicating it is "thinking" and about to connect and launch but after a long while Skype give a can not connect message.  ...and I too have connection to the internet / other internet pages and websites.

Does anyone have the solution?

please do not assume that there is a single solution to any particular symptom

Even if you have a perfect internet connection, Skype connection can still be blocked by
the Firewall, antivirus, other internet security applications or e.g. router.

If you have the normal Skype version installed, please install the beta version, if you have the beta version installed please install the normal version from Skype.com, please do NOT remove the current Skype installation, install over it.

These instructions have worked for many and is the quickest thing to try to resolve issues such as this.

No two issues are identical.

As correctly pointed out by Neil it is an infringement of posting rules to hijack someone else's thread.

As well as being very unfair to the thread starter it causes the thread to become "muddied" and lose direction.
