"The files that Skype needs to work cannot be found..." error

Hi, This error has been posted before on the old forum.  When I install Skype I get the error message "The files that Skype needs to work cannot be found..."  and am advised to reinstall Skype.  I did that many times to no avail.  I then found an old thread that mentioned this issue is likely due to a registry change initiated by MSN and to try uninstalling skype using Revo Uninstaller then reinstalling.  I did this and still get the same error.  Can anyone help?

stupid skype update poped up and suddenly I can't run skype. I can't reinstall it also. Full or that dummy 2MB upx'ed installer... nothing **bleep**ing works. WTF, is that the smell comming from redmond?!?

I erased the folder, whatever I do - it does not work. It could as well be related to that skypeclick to call crapware. **bleep**, I'm cancelling all my paid services, wtf is wrong ... I'm pissed off

I am getting this Error Message. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve the problem. Uninstall / Reinstall . . . Uninstall / Reinstall / Restart computer / then Run. . . all with no luck. I am getting frustrated. I tried the link on the conversation thread, that didn't work either. Please Help. I would desperatly like to use this with my brother in Brazil.

Your Windows registry database contains wrong data on location of user special folders. Hopefully you can fix it using the procedure provided here:

Yes . . . . that is the link that I was refering to previously. However, just to be certain, I tried it again, it didin't. Any suggestions?
