i tried downloading the latest version and i prob uninstalled skype twice restarted my comp after reinstalling the latest version it still keeps crashing Ive been at this for an hour now im about to give up soon

My skype has simply stopped working...nothing keeps it from crashing...help??? Holidays at hand I want it wroking. What thehell?????
Uninstall the current version of Skype, then reinstall the new Skype 5.7 beta version. See if it helps.

Please do a Skype reset:
1. Ensure that "Show hidden files and folders" is switched on.
Click Start and then Run Type "control folders" and click OK. In the View tab, ensure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled
2. Exit Skype : From the system tray >> right click on the skype icon and click "Quit Skype"
3. Click Start >> Run Type: %appdata% Rename folder "Skype" to "Old_Skype".
4. Re-run Skype
Check if the issue persists.

Windows 7 x64:
I had the same problem and read that I needed to uninstall adobe flash and then re-install... it worked for about a week then the same thing started happening again - skype would consistently crash after a few seconds.
I then read where someone recommended installing the new 5.7 beta over the existing skype ... it seems to have worked!!!
