cant open links in skype

people send me links in skype and i cant open them cand anyone help me. i know a lot about computers so if its technical dont hesitate to post it here i will understand thanks

What type device are you using with Skype?  Mac?  Windows?  Etc?

Well, I've seen a few people complain about the same problem but I haven't seen a solution, nor have I been able to duplicate it here.

What version of Windows are you running?

What version of Skype?  Click on Help > About Skype for the specific version number.

What browser do you use as your default browser?

You might update to the current version, 5.9.0.114.  The full installer is here:

(I doubt that will fix this problem but you never know.    )

If you copy and paste a link in to the Firefox address/URL box, rather than click on it, does it open then?

Uhhh...I don't get what you just said.

Are you saying that you did update to v5.9.0.114 but it didn't make any difference, but if you copy/paste the links that does work?  (I understand why that would be a PITA if that's what you're saying.)

edit:  BTW, if you click on a link here, in the forum, like that download link for the installer, does that work?
