Wierd Webcam Mic Issue

The webcam works fine. The built in mic works fine. If I start a call with video the mic works. If I start a call without video the mic works.

HOWEVER if I turn the video on or off the mic randomly stops working!

The mic is Digital Innovations HD 720p Webcam. Thanks in advance.

Re: Wierd Webcam Mic Issue

I have 2 days dealing with this too.  in the volume control > recording the mic is set as default. it records voice when use default voice recording from accesories or another program.

the volume is up in properties. have the latest drivers too.

in Sound communications the option is set to "do nothing". so windows is not muting or briging the volume down.

in SKYPE:

I can see the bar in skype moving when i talk without a call. the config is not setup automatic.

But if I make a call the webcam video works but mic doesn't.

Re: Wierd Webcam Mic Issue

I had done this for the microsoft HD 3000 webcam firmware + neu driver. As I didnt hat much time on the system to fix some errors I just told the user to use a external mic and now everything is working. Still not any clue what is causing the problem. It cannot be the webcam as I tryed a Logitech and another Microsoft Webcan all had the same problem.

Even having 2 Webcams connected I selected one as mic and one for video, but than the sound was not working very well had some funny noice in the background.

So my fix was a 3 euro external mic connacted to the AC97 onboard Sound card and the problem are fixed.

I think the problem are related somehow the Sound drivers.

Best regards
