Whenever I start Skype the program icon goes to my taskbar as well as my system tray. What setting will resolve this item so that Skype will simply close to the System Tray and not appear on the taskbar when running.
We have the same problem with Windows 7 64-bit. Formerly, Skype would always "close" to the system tray but now it insist on staying in the task bar taking up valuable space. Looks like an error since there is no setting anywhere we can find.
Open Skype, Go to Tools >> Options >> Advanced and uncheck the "Keep skype in the taskbar while I am signed in." check box
That worked. I don't remember that in previous versions.
This option was made available already with Skype 4.2 version, but only on Windows 7 computers.
