Webcam switches off when connected

I have a 'Genius EYE312' webcam and it works fine up until the person I am calling answers my call then the image disappears. I have up to date SKYPE, updated the drivers, direct X and reinstalled the program several times. As far as I can tell there are no other programs trying to use the webcam.

Can any one help please

Thanks,

If you click on Tools > Options > Video settings do you see your own video there?

What version of Skype do you have installed?  Click on Help > About Skype for the latest version number.

Re: Webcam switches off when connected

Ok.   You problem may be due to the fact that your webcam is not an approved device by Skype.  I don't have a perfect solution and maybe someone else will chime in with an idea.

In the meantime, you might try ManyCam, available free at www.manycam.com.   It may take the feed from your webcam and Skype will work with output from ManyCam.
