I have a virtual phone number, routed to my Skype account, much like a Skype online number. It works fine, except that my Skype voicemail doesn't work with incoming calls from a normal phone. Is this lack of functionality a known issue? Perhaps even deliberate, to oblige people to subscribe to a Skype online number?
Any information gratefully received.
Same thing here except I have a skype online number and any calls just ring and ring... So aparantly they do not support forwarding telephone network calls to skype voicemail or it is not working but I assume likely the ;farmer.
I find that if I click Options, then Calls in skype, Voicemail pops up. Then in there I just set the checkbox Send unanswered calls to voicemail and it will allow me to change the seconds it allows a call to ring... Now my online number flips to voicemail when unanswered. I'd reccomend the OP check to make sure the Send unanswered calls to voicemail is checked as it fixxed my problem.
Good thought, but unfortunately that's not the solution. I already have voicemail activated, and it works fine for Skype calls -- just not for calls from a phone.
Also, I have a Mac. For some reason, best known to Skype/Microsoft, on a Mac you have no control over the behaviour for unanswered calls. All you can do is select a radio button to send incoming calls to voicemail, which sends all calls to voicemail, or not. With this unselected, but with voicemail activated on your account, it would appear that forwarding unanswered calls to voicemail happens automatically, but with no control over number of rings.
All of this works fine for Skype calls. For calls from a phone, voicemail just doesn't work at all, regardless of whether you have selected to send all calls to voicemail or not.
Basically voicemail is broken -- at least if you have a Mac.
You could probably sign in from a PC and configure it..... Hmmm. I have both my PCs signed in and they both ring. Alas I think its the app that sends it to voicemail or not so if the Mac doesn't know it needs to do that it will not happen. Skype should obviously provide that functiuonality in the Mac version.
Mine is doing the same thing with my PC running XP Pro. From a phone you hear one ring and then nothing. I have mine set for 20 seconds of ring and then for voicemail to pick up. All the settings are proper. Why doesn't this company have techs that will either provide live online support or a live phone tech?
I've been using Skype with the GE Skylink 2-in-1 phone for four years on my PC, from XP, to Win7 32, then Win7 64. The phone isn't the most convenient handset but it's worked well for my needs. Any time someone called my online number, until recently, voicemail has worked well. It just recently stopped working for no apparent reason. All my settings have remained the same over four years. I'm assuming the problem is from a nutty Skype update? Wish I had an answer, instead I'll share empathy.
Jon, hey, empathy's good! And another voice raising the same issue might, just, alert Skype to the problem. Thanks.
Though to be honest, I'm not holding my breath.
