Update won't work

Hello skype community,

I have a massive problem updating my skype and it's becoming more and more of a nuisance. Whenever I try to update my skype it says: "A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: C:\ProgramData\Skype\{EE7257A2-39A2-4D2F-9DAC-F9F25B8AE1D8}\SkypeSetup_5.8.0.156.msi" and after it says: "Installing Skype failed; code 1603 A fatal error occurred during installation." I already looked up many solutions and none seems to work, the thing I read most commonly was that I have to give the Temp.file full control, now I may be either not able to do that or it simply didn't work, since I've been giving the system full control over all these files and it still won't work and I am running out of ideas what to do, I'd be delightful about a helping hand.

You may try the procedure outlined here in order to install a new version of Skype without using any installer program:

Be aware that as of today, the latest Skype version is 5.10.0.114

You should also be advised to make a copy of the currently installed Skype.exe file; just in the case that you will regret the update.

Thank you so much, that solution finally worked, no problems to install the update at all!

If you check that folder, you'll see that the file SkypeSetup_5.8.0.156.msi (or whatever version you're trying to install) doesn't exist. In my case it's SkypeSetup_6.1.0.129.msi. There is just a Skype.msi file. So if you'll rename that file to the one he is looking for, and re-run the installation, he can find the file.
