There is no login box after I install skype

Skype prompted me that it needed to update. When I allowed the update, it installed the latest version, i.e. 5.8.0.1.58. However, after the latest installation, when I get to the login screen, I don't see any box where I log in. I can only see a blank blue screen with white clouds at the bottom and only "skype" "tools" and "help" menus at the top left corner. I have tried completely uninstalling and installing again but the same thing happens every time. What do I do to get skype to work?

The problem is with your Internet Explorer and JavaScript.

Please, answer first these questions:

What version of Windows are you on? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Go to Windows Start and in the Search box type winver.exe and then press Enter.

What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?

In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.

P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

You can only get help if you first answer these questions. The problem is with your Internet Explorer and JavaScript and the procedure for resolving this issue depends on your system configuration.

HI, i have the same problem, i'm running windows 7 64-bit and i have IE 9, although as a sie note i'd like to know why skype should depend on a browser i don't use....but as a side note, the main topic is making skype work again. Thanks for any help
