Ok, so I've had Skype for probably about at least a year now and I've never had this problem before. I got a new laptop(it was actually an older one but fixed up) and downloaded Skype. Now just recently, almost every time I'm chatting skype to skype with someone and I send an instant message, it duplicates the message in parentheses and shows a UK sign before it! For example:
I reply:
I'm going to email them and ask what's going on...
This is the message that goes through:
I'm going to email them and ask what's going on...
( (flag:gb) I'm going to email them and ask what's going on... \u003e ^ \u003c )
I have no clue why it's doing it and I couldn't find anything about it in the instant message settings. I attached a picture to this topic so you can actually see what's happening on the skype screen. For privacy, I covered up my contacts on the picture. Please help!! This is getting really irritating... ![]()

Are you by chance using some 3rd party programs, like e.g. a Skype translator and which are attached to Skype?
Open Tools -> Options -> Advanced. At the bottom of the screen you will see a menu option “Manage other programs’ access to Skype”. Open this menu and see if there are any applications listed there.

Thanks for your input! Turns out, I downloaded Clownfish which is a translator for Skype. Apparently, they must not have worked out the bugs yet, lol. So far, the problem seems fixed!
