Hello, I have Windows 7 and the current version of Skype installed. I noticed that my friend had the online status indicator right on the Skype icon in the taskbar all the time, and I have been trying to figure out how to set mine up that way. Currently when Skype is open or pinned to the taskbar, I have to have a separate icon in the notification tray to be able to see my status at all times from the taskbar.
I have tried turning off notification for Skype, along with combinations of having it pinned or unpinned, and the various settings of the taskbar icons themselves, and I can't get this to appear this way when I'm logged in.
The strange thing is that when I sign out of Skype, the status *does* appear on the taskbar icon, showing appropriately that I am offline. (I tried to attach a small screenshot but keep getting pink messages that an unexpected error occurred). However, it goes away when I log in and the contact list view comes up, and I have only the logo without status indicator.
Can anyone tell me what I am missing to be able to have the status indicator on the taskbar icon all the time while logged in? Thanks very much.
My operating system is Windows XP professional service pack 3, and I too have problems with skype icon not showing on taskbar? It used to! I have the latest version of Skype, 5,10.
