Re: SkypeME

[ Edited ]

Any real solution for this yet?

Im also get loads of people that i do not know contacting me and says that i got SkypeME on, even i got the latest Skype ("5.8.0.158") on Windows 7 so i do not have this setting!

Neil said it haven´t been on skype since 3.8 so should i install that one just to be able to press that SkypeME setting and then install the new one again? Just to get this annoyance away? [invalid URL]

Re: SkypeME

I got a Android, but i do not have Skype on it!

And i did uninstalled ( 5.8.0.158 ) and installed 3.5 and pressed SkypeMe and then im just online. Then uninstalled it and reinstalled the latest Skype.

Then i asked one of my new stockers, if i still have SkypeMe on and she said no.

And for the last two days no more problems.

Yes when i first got my Android, maybe a year a go. That's not even close to when this problem starting accruing as this problem is about a month in happening.

Re: SkypeME

Have you gone into your Privacy Settings while on the Skype Client and and checking the box that says "Allow my online status to be shown on the web"?

See link below for further details.

good thought, but this setting will have no bearing on what other Skype client users will see as your online status

more specifically, having this setting On will definitely not set your online status to SkypeMe

Re: SkypeME

I am pretty sure that all this disinformation about SkypeMe was planted on purpose. Nobody can be this ignorant. SkypeMe was one of the best features of Skype to get to know people from all over the world. It was removed because of a bandwidth issue or such -- not because users did not understand it.

AmanullahR:

I beg you pardon?  "Disinformation ... planted on purpose?"  That is not the way this Community works.

Regarding SkypeMe, a discontinued feature:

https://support.skype.com/en/category/SKYPE_ME/

What is SkypeMe!® mode?

SkypeMe! is no longer supported in Skype for Windows, though it is still accessible in Skype for Mac 2.8 and earlier.

SkypeMe! mode lets everyone else on Skype know that you are available and interested in chatting. This includes people who you don't know, or you have not shared contact requests with. SkypeMe! mode temporarily disables your privacy settings and allows anyone to contact you, whether you've OK'd them or not. Your privacy settings are restored as soon as you leave SkypeMe! mode.

To change your status to or from SkypeMe! mode on earlier versions of Skype for Mac OS X, go to Account > Change Status and then click SkypeMe!

There may very well be relic versions of Skype still in use which permit use of this feature.  As I understand it, this feature was abused and taken advantage of by all manner of malcontents, which led to its end.  As there is nothing further to discuss, thread closed.

Elaine
