Skype has worked perfectly on this computer for 2 years, now all of a sudden everytime it launches it basically crashes. "Skype Has Stopped Working" and then the window displayed basically allows you to either "Close Program" or "Debug", but either button just closes the app. HOW DO I TROUBLESHOOT THIS ??? Here is other pertinent information:

Any time I check for solutions it says Skype isn't updated but I have ensured that it is. I've also attempted to re-download it and that doesn't work. Though you might want to try this yourself.

I had already tried all the same things you mentioned....nothing worked.....including uninstalling and downloading and installing latest version.
Thanks for the post.....I don't feel alone on this.........but I gotta get it working because I use it heavily, daily, for work related communications.

Try to reset Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%, press Enter or OK button. The Windows File Explorer will popup. Locate there a folder with the name Skype. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call history. All data are still saved in the Skype_old folder.

Your issue is quite different. The error messageindicates that Windows is not even able to detect the version of your Skype (Application Version: 0.0.0.0, Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0). You mayindeed try to update using this installer:
http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_5.8.0.158

Thanks
