Skype will not open since upgrade

I am running Windows 7, IE 9 and everything was fine last week - now, after upgrading, as soon as Skype opens - Windows message automatically opens and lets me know that Skype is not working. This is very frustrating.

Please help

Re: Skype will not open since upgrade

Open Windows Event Viewer -> Custom View -> Administrative Events. Look for any recent error messages with timestamp corresponding to Skype crash. You may copy and paste here the text from the General tab.

Re: Skype will not open since upgrade

Try first to reset all Skype settings.

Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%, press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Restart Skype.

N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

Re: Skype will not open since upgrade

I'm having the same problem since I upgraded the last version 5.10.

When I login there's no menu options and it's not possible to close the session I only can change status (see attachement). Also the only way to close skype is go to adminstration and close the "skype.exe"

I'm using the Windows Xp, INtel core 2 1.83ghz.

Actually, your issue is very different. “Missing toolbar” is a seldom issue happening on some Windows XP installations. Try this solution, which might enable the toolbar.

The problem is with your Internet Explorer and JavaScript.

Please, answer first these questions:

What version of Windows are you on? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?

In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.

P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.
