Re: Skype uses 100% CPU

The problem I have is that when the other party uses a Mac, my PC usage soars. 100% CPU. My video freezes; as well the PC response is nearly frozen; the window closes and reappears-- something affects the video and CPU at my end. This doesn't occur with the other party using an iPhone instead. (usually the iPhone is worse than the Mac because the other site has no cell service, just wi-fi via satellite.) This only started happening in past 2 or 3 days. The CPU immediately drops when the iPhone is used (but still around 50-75 %).

I have Win7 on Toshiba, 64-bit.

Re: Skype uses 100% CPU

[ Edited ]

Logging in to report the same issues - clicking 'Hide Ad' on the homepage of Skype (which is never on display anyway) reduces my CPU usage from 70% to 0%.

Had this issue on 5.5.x.x and now upgrading to 5.6.0.110 has the exact same issue.

This is a glaringly obvious fault and I can't imagine why it hasn't been squashed yet.

Re: Skype uses 100% CPU

My system: Windows 7 [Version 6.1.7601] 64 bits.

CPU: Core 2 Duo T5470

RAM: 4 GB

Skype version: 5.6.59.110

PC: HP 6720s

This bloody programme uses 100% even when idle.

Clean Windows install.

Re: Skype uses 100% CPU

I have found another instance where the cpu activity of skype.exe is constantly 95-100% thereby almost paralysing the PC.

The culprit? A clash between skype 5.5.x / 5.8.x and Kodak Easyshare software, which runs a service called DLLStartupService. By changing the startup of this service to manual the cpu usage of skype returns to normal.

I am just in the process of downloading an upgrade to the kodak software to see if this fixes the issue.

Will come back with the results...
