also enjoy nfs hot pursuit on my pII(passive cooled) with 64mb ram 16mb gfx card and a massive 6gb harddisk if it works it works

pitty today's game's wont run on that machine therefore i have an newer computer

for msn i use and older version (new is epixly bloated and slows even a decent computer down)

Re: Skype suddenly uses high CPU

I got auto-upgraded to Skype 5.8 the other day and ever since Skype has been running at around 50% of CPU. My PC is whirring away and everythign else is going dead slow.

I tried reinstalling back to version 5.7.0.123 but that hasn't helped. I re-start and Skype comes back strong, 49-50% all of the time.

Can anyone please help?

I've used Skype for many years and never encountered this problem before.

I'm using Windows 7.

Thanks,

Gordon

I have installed 5.10 version and I had similar high CPU issue. I disconnected from logging into facebook and Skype CPU is almost zero.

Re: Skype suddenly uses high CPU

I also just diconnected from Facebook and went from 50% to 2% CPU usage.  My memory usage was also cut in half.

Re: Skype suddenly uses high CPU

Unfortunately I'm still having this issue. I never was connected to Facebook in the first place but still have the issue of 49~51% CPU usage. It's really becoming an issue since I have other high CPU usage programs that are now barely able to get enough.

Make sure Skype is not running in Compatibility / ADMIN Mode.

Yes I've ensured that it's not running in either of those modes, but it never was, and the problem continues.

Re: Skype suddenly uses high CPU

you can try uninstalling Current Skype with Revo (remove all registry entries)

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

then, reinstall latest Skype 5.11 Beta with this link:

Re: Skype suddenly uses high CPU

Well, I'm afraid this still hasn't done much. I tried multiple times, uninstalling and reinstalling both the beta and 5.10. Both give me the same issue.
