I got auto-upgraded to Skype 5.8 the other day and ever since Skype has been running at around 50% of CPU. My PC is whirring away and everythign else is going dead slow.
I tried reinstalling back to version 5.7.0.123 but that hasn't helped. I re-start and Skype comes back strong, 49-50% all of the time.
Can anyone please help?
I've used Skype for many years and never encountered this problem before.
I'm using Windows 7.
Thanks,
Gordon

I also just diconnected from Facebook and went from 50% to 2% CPU usage. My memory usage was also cut in half.

Unfortunately I'm still having this issue. I never was connected to Facebook in the first place but still have the issue of 49~51% CPU usage. It's really becoming an issue since I have other high CPU usage programs that are now barely able to get enough.
Make sure Skype is not running in Compatibility / ADMIN Mode.

Yes I've ensured that it's not running in either of those modes, but it never was, and the problem continues.

you can try uninstalling Current Skype with Revo (remove all registry entries)
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_fr
then, reinstall latest Skype 5.11 Beta with this link:

Well, I'm afraid this still hasn't done much. I tried multiple times, uninstalling and reinstalling both the beta and 5.10. Both give me the same issue.
