Skype not working - only splash screen showed, no login

[CEP187]

I am unable to use skype - it is only displaying a splash screen with three options : Skype, Tools and Help.  I cannot login.

what is the problem?  Skype used to work on this computer.

What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?

In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.

P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

trying to find an answer, does anyone ever get any support from the skype people?

The same problem is happening with me!!! I have a Windows Vista computer, and Skype has always worked fine on it. But recently, when I click the Skype icon, just the outline of the window comes up. I can see only the red "X" button in the top right corner, and below the Skype symbol, I can see "Skype", "Tools", and "Help". I just tried uninstalling the whole thing and reinstalling it with 5.10, but it's exactly the same. Help????

contacted Skype support--just follow these steps: 

-Right click the Skype icon on the bottom right of your Taskbar, and click "Quit". 

-Right click on your desktop and click New>Shortcut

-Copy this: "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /legacylogin 

-(Copy the ENTIRE THING! Spaces and quotation marks included. Everything after "Copy this:"

-Paste it into the blank on the New Shortcut window. 

-Click "Next", give it the name "Skype", and click Finish. 

-PRESTO!!! Click on the new icon on your desktop and the Skype login page should come up.

Well, that may be because I have a Windows Vista...I don't know. If you have something different, that might be why, but if you have the same and it doesn't work, then contact the Customer Support. The chat thing works pretty well! And if you get an answer...post it here, to help other people out!!!
