Hi there,
I recently received a new laptop for Christmas. It came with Skype already on it. However, one day Skype asked to do an automatic update, so I allowed it to run. After that, everytime I tried to login it would take me to a bizarre page. I've attempted to uninstall it and re-install the new version and the old version and it's still not working. Here's a link to what I'm getting... file:///C:/Users/Lauren%20Bowers/Pictures/Index%20

Try Below:
1. Ensure that "Show hidden files and folders" is switched on.
Click Start and then Run Type "control folders" and click OK. In the View tab, ensure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled
2. Exit Skype : From the system tray >> right click on the skype icon and click "Quit Skype"
3. Click Start >> Run Type: "%programdata%\Skype\Apps" (without the quotes)
4. Rename the folder login to login1
5. Then go to Skype folder inside program files and go to phone folder and then right click on Skype application and select send to Desktop (Create shortcut)
Now try running Skype.

The quickest method currently, to resolve this, is to install over what you have. using the beta release here: http://skype.com/go/getskype-beta
