Skype is the only program that doesn't record my microphone sounds?

So ive recently bought a new computer and started getting all the programs i more or less use daily.. the problem is that i cant seem to skype working properly, just doesnt record any sound at all while its certainly not my PC since i can recor sounds in the recorder or use any other kind of voicechat, this only goes for skype....

I've tried numerous things to get it to work i.e re-installing sound drivers, re-install Skype, trying older versions, mix around in both windows and skype sound settings..

The only thing i've noticed is when i turn on micboost in windows my friends hear distorted buzz but thats it, and i get a popup saying that my mic's is set on really low volume output...

Any idea?

According to Skype settings, you are using a microphone connected to your soundcard (Realtek High Definition Audio). When you go to Windows Sound Control Panel -> Recording devices, do you see the same microphone selected as your default recording device?

It's the same and it is selected as default, and the green bar is responding on sounds.

This is strange. Which other options do you see for Microphone selection in Audio settings?

i see no other options. thats the only one

If you are sure that the Realtek HD audio driver is up-to-date, then you can try to reset Skype settings.

Quit Skype or use Windows task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search box type %appdata%, press Enter. The Windows File Explorer will popup. Locate there a folder with the name Skype. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Restart Skype.

still nothing, tried calling Echo and was just silent, did try though basically blowing into the mic and then i could hear a slight slight buzz but thats basically it
