Skype has stopped working

I am using Windows 7 and had Skype vers. 4.x which operated well until 2 days ago.  I have installed vers 5.8.0.158 and the problem still persists.  Have deleted the shared & temp files from the Skype data folder and the program still crashes!

Open Windows Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for any recent error messages with timestamp corresponding to Skype crash.

skype for me is not working im having problems same problem pops up i tried updating it with the beta not working looking for thte share.xml cant find it and tried thorough deletion of the program and and reinstalling it and still nothing works need help

Have just installed Skype 5.9 and get the same result.

Administrative Events Viewer shows as Source=Application; Event Id=1000; Task Category=(100).

Where do we go from here?

I have only just become a Skype member.  After working on the first attempt it willl not now connect with the called party. In tghe abence of live help or some skype rep to help me I have no idea where to go next. Heeelp

I tried to uninstaul and instauled the required version of skype it is still happening it stopps working when it loads   any help would be apreciated  thanks

Open Windows Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for any recent error messages. You may copy and paste here the text from the General tab.

Please help !  During the  the last few days I am unable to use Skype.

After signing in a message appears and the site is useless: 

" Skype Home is unavailable at the moment. Check back later to see your news and alerts ".

Is your connection status on Skype Online? The status icon must be solid green with a white checkmark inside. Try to change the connection status using the dropdown arrow next to this icon.

My mother and I can not connect on Skype. We both show offline to each other. We have uninstalled and reinstalled , didn't work. Tried removing a the Xml file like it said , nothing, Tried the beta again and its not working...... At my wits end on what to do. we don't have each other blocked or set as offline or away or anything. She keeps getting the home page is unavailble then it goes away and still nothing... Is there anything else we can do?
