I've been having the same issue for the last month at least. I'm afraid to download the beta b/c of what it could do to my computer. Skype on my android works just fine but it won't work on my computer. The interesting thing is that my boyfriend has skype on HIS computer and it works fine, no issues. Please help!!!

Hello Sarge, it seems you are the one that could help.. I have unlimited subscrip to the US and have been calling landline home for 18 mths now no pb. Now the connection hangs up or they can't hear me, suddenly. I tried many things to no avail. Ideas? thanks in advance.
I have tried the beta version, but I still get the message "Problem with recording device." when I try to make a test call to "Echo | Sound Test Service." When setting up the beta version, I was not able to do any audio, either hearing test sounds or getting feedback from speaking into the microphone. The video worked fine. I am using a HP Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. The audio seems to work fine when testing from the taskbar. Any more suggestions.
All: I have the same issue. Can anyone give a solution so that a non-IT person can understand? I only use computers for very basic needs like skype and car hardly follow the "solutions" given to help computer experts. Help!!!
The quickest method currently to resolve this, is to install over what you have. using the beta release here: http://skype.com/go/getskype-beta
If the above fails:
If you are using Win7 Please try this:
Open Windows Event Viewer. Go to Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for the recent error messages. Click on any errors and post the details here if they happen at the time things fail.
Otherwise do this:
Using your Windows Control Panel:
Adminstrator Tools -> Event Viewer
Click on System and later Applications, do you see any errors logged during the times this happens, if so what errors ("If you click on the errors you can get more details and copy/paste them here")?
Also, please check times after you reboot to see if any errors are produced when you system is restarting.
Are you current with ALL Windows Updates and any Updates from your manufacturers web site for your system and any attached devices?
