Skype frozen because of Dell built-in webcam [ Edited ]

Hi guys,

First post ever here for me, so I'm not sure it this is the right part of the forum..

I can't make or recieve video calls with Skype (I've downloaded the latest version). As soon as the call starts Skype is getting frozen, I get a message that it isn't working anymore, and I'm out of the software.

I had the same problem last month, but then the solution which is given at http://heartbeat.skype.com/2011/05/problems_signing_into_skype_an.html was solving the problem. Right now, deleting the shared.xml file doesn't help (by the way, I have to delete it two or three times before it seems really 'gone').

Could anyone please tell me what to do to make Skype working again?

What version of Skype do you have installed?  Click on Help > About Skype for the specific version number.

What version of Windows?

What anti-virus / firewall?

Windows:Windows 7? (Dell-laptop, bought it last year)

Anti-virus:AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012

I just tested Skype again by making a call without video. This was possible, but my friend wasn't able to hear me good. The volume of my voice was very, very low according to him. As soon as I started the video-option, Skype was getting frozen again, and I was out of the program.   

Anyone know what to do?

I'd suggest, as a troubleshooting step, that you temporarily disable AVG and see if that helps.

If that doesn't help, look in Event Viewer > Custom Views > Administrative Events for any error that has a time stamp that coincides with when Skype froze.  If you find such an error, copy and paste the results here.  That may shed some light on what's causing your problem.

Disable AVG doesn't work. Calling my friend is possible, however he can barely hear me. As soon as I start the video option, Skype is frozen again.

I found errors, what kind of results do you mean? Like below, or do you mean the XML-reproduction?

I don't see anything helpful in that error report.

Are you using the Dell built-in webcam?

If you click on Tools > Options > Video settings, does your video show there without freezing Skype?
