I am not that literate with computers but I am trying to get skype to work and am having great difficulty.
I uninstalled the old skype and tried to install the new beta version but I get an error message saying that I don't have administrator rights ... but I am the administrator.
When you say to click start and Run Type "control folders" then click ok, where exactly am I doing this? When I click start all I get is a list of my programs, and a search box underneath that.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

The quickest method to resolve this is to install over what you have. using the beta release here: http://skype.com/go/getskype-beta

Well I tried to, but as I stated - it says I don't have administrator rights, but I am the administrator.

Can you provide the exact error message? Administrator rights for exactly what?

Administrator rights for the comuputer.
I did a full reboot of the computer and skype installed this time so I guess it was hung up on something.
I could start the program and it hasn't crashed so far, I will try calling on Saturday eve. and see if that works.

I had the same problem... Uninstalled skype, reinstalled, etc. Did not work. I probably had a virus even if I have NORTON installed... MALWAREBYTES did the work! Downloaded the software (It's free), ran a full scan, got rid of trojans that Windows 7 nor Norton did not pick up and voila... skype was running again. Don't know the technical terms on why it happened... but you can try... doesn't hurt to clean up your PC with malwarebytes
